Pr. Martin Dazhytski, the autobiography.

Next goes the autobiography, written by the pr. Martin Dazhytski, to tell about the events of 40-th years and after. The style and orfographian is original.

I am the priest Martin Dazhytski, born in 1918 in Augel, Lvivsk’s count. After I had graduated an elementary school I entered the Colegium Serafitski of the priests Bernardines, in Radechnitsa. Then I continued my education in seminary in bernardines monastery.

The War began. In 1943 I arrived to Zhitomir to work. I have serviced 5 regions. Kyevska and Odesska regions.

I have had to work in Kharkow. But I was arrested. I have been under the arrest for 5 months in the prison, which was situated in Zhitomir. After the trial my sentence was 8 year of deprivation the freedom.

In 26 of October 1946 I arrived into the bay Nachodka under the convoy. It is hard to tell you about unhuman conditions of life. We lived in barracks which were calculated on 120 persons, but there were 840 persons.

In 16 of May, 1947 I sailed to Magadan. I worked on the gold-field in Kolima. I remember those frosts, which were –60 degrees. In such conditions I draw wheelbarrows with cargo. Because of hard work and very strange for us frost, I fell ill.

But kind people helped me. They were doctors, husband and his wife, who knew that I am a priest. They cured me and I worked in their house.

In 2 of July, 1952 I was free from imprisonment, where I spent 6 years. I returned to Ukraine, because my dream was to bring Evangelium to people.

It was very hard, because of the phohibion of the missionaire activity. But then I arrived to Myrapha, where I serviced 5 churches. I studied a religion, confessed ill people. But when I was ill confessed people lieing in a bed. The communistic government gave a right to confess only two persons. But I confessed hundreds of people.

In 1957 I arrived to Gorodkivka. Thanks to the love of our Lord Jesus Christ I wasn’t lonely. There wasn’t anybody in Ukraine who inherited our Father saint Francis.

But soon after some decades the youth became stretch to spirit life. But now there is a Custodia of sait Archangel Michael which number 50 persons of Friars Minor. I am still working in Gorodkivka and preach the Evangelium. I am happy because I have done the will of our Lord. I have sowed a little Franciscan grain and I hope that Ukraine will have a wonderful harvest of flowers of St.Francis.
